AI Writing Readability Checklist

Last updated: February 15, 2026

Use this 15-point checklist every time you publish AI-assisted content. Bookmark it. Print it. Make it a habit.

1. Does the opening hook grab attention in the first sentence?
2. Are there sentence fragments or varied sentence lengths?
3. Did you remove 'utilize,' 'facilitate,' 'leverage,' and other AI buzzwords?
4. Does the text use contractions (it's, don't, won't)?
5. Are there personal anecdotes or specific examples?
6. Does the text take a clear stance (not hedge on everything)?
7. Is there at least one unexpected word choice or metaphor?
8. Do paragraph lengths vary (some short, some long)?
9. Did you remove 'In conclusion,' 'It is important to note,' and similar filler?
10. Does the text use active voice more than passive?
11. Are there rhetorical questions or direct reader address?
12. Did you add original data, quotes, or insights AI couldn't generate?
13. Does it pass at least 2 AI detectors?
14. Would you actually want to read this yourself?
15. Does it sound like a specific person wrote it (not a generic AI)?

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to check every point every time?

Ideally yes, but focus on the ones you consistently miss. Most people struggle with points 2, 6, and 12 — sentence variation, taking stances, and adding original insights.

Can Humaneer handle most of these automatically?

Humaneer handles points 1-4, 7-10 automatically. Points 5, 6, 11-12 require your personal input — that's what makes the content truly yours.
